What will the money go toward?

Proceeds from the crochet book go toward cozy reading moments and creative activities for children and adolescents and their families who are hospitalized in Lukashuset and Strandbakkehuset. Signe Hørlück (Lukashuset) and Lisbeth Refshauge Højer (Strandbakkehuset) really appreciate the initiative:

“It’s means so much when people want to do something for children, young people and their families during a difficult period of their lives. The Rumps is a wonderful project brimming with humor and creativity. It’s a great combination and it’s perfect for a child and youth hospice, such as Strandbakkehuset, where our aim is to create a space with life, play and loving care. When everyday life is occupied with illness, having something other than illness to focus on is life-giving.

Director of Strandbakkehuset, Lisbeth Refshauge Højer, together with Tiny Heinie and Dad.

“There’s something instinctively funny about bums. Seriousness and humor are also intricately linked to life-threatening illness and death. We particularly see the importance of humor when the hospital clown visits. The clown’s childish mind and humorous approach reaches everyone. I see the same thing with StorySoldier’s creations.

There is no doubt that reading and being able to develop creatively is hugely significant to the individual child in strengthening their self-understanding and perhaps even being able to process some of their experiences.”

Signe has been there from the conception to the opening of Lukashuset Denmark’s first hospice for children and young people, and is now responsible for various aspects, including external projects.
